Migrate from locally hosted box to the CLOUD– Get SaaSified with Latvik eMed

Hospitals and clinics are now looking at migrating from the traditional locally hosted model to the cloud.

The reasons are primarily elasticity and savings in cost with the eMed ERP today being seen as a mission critical application. In fact with improved connectivity, faster processing speeds, the ubiquity of mobile devices and other technological advances it is more appealing
for healthcare providers to consider the subscription based SaaS model.

Of the 70 centers that use LATVIK eMed, about 80% is hosted on the cloud and the rest still adopt the application to be hosted on site locally. We believe that this model will see an inversion in less that 5 years to come.
Latvik eMed has  various advantages with the cloud model, the primary one being elasticity and savings in cost. Elasticity provides the flexibility of horizontal scaling or spinning of Application servers based on the need. The cost savings is substantial considering that you pay only based on use and need not reserve capacity.
Other reasons to consider migrating to the cloud:
– Public / Private Cloud: Should you go for hosting the application on a public cloud such as AWS or use a data-center that is available within your region. Don’t forget that AWS also provides what is called a VPC or a Virtual Private Cloud to ensure that the instance is logically isolated from other networks and provides Virtual Private connectivity.
– Multi-Tenancy: Are you using an application that supports multi-tenancy? Architecting a legacy single tenant application to be multi-tenant is easier said than done so ensure that the application is multi-tenant. Mutli-Tenant applications optimize cost of maintenance.
– Multiple Applications to juggle with – Save costs! – Today a health care provider doesn’t just require a single application enterprise wide such as say an HIS. There would be a requirement to have a Business/Health Analytics application, HRM, CRM, Financial Accounting, Payroll, Modality specific applications, etc, which may require tight integration across these applications. Hosting all of these applications on-site is an expensive and rigid affair. The costs for licensed versions of databases or Operating Systems can go through the roof. The savings in the op-ex model over the cap-ex is significant and so is the cost of replacement of one SaaS based application to another.

4 Benefits of Cloud ERP

ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software that connects your finance, accounting and operations data is a must have in this day and age, particularly for dynamic and fast-growing companies. Yet, ERP software can be too expensive and too hard to manage for some growing companies… or so they think. Learn more about benefits of Cloud ERP.

Cloud ERP can be a great choice for growing organizations. Your other choice is On-premises ERP, which means the servers are at the company location and maintained by your company. While both Cloud ERP and On-premises ERP offer similar functionality in terms of tools and usage, Cloud ERP offers cost savings, flexibility, scalability, security and speed that growing companies will find very appealing.

1. Cloud ERP can save you money

Companies that moved from on-premises ERP to Cloud ERP saved immediately because they no longer had to fund or manage their own data centers. Instead, they pay a Cloud ERP provider a monthly or yearly payment to manage it for them. The goodness of this setup is further realized when the company spreads the monthly or yearly payments out and treats it as a recurring, fully tax-deductible expense

2. Cloud ERP makes you more flexible

Take a deep breath and stretch….ahhhhh…that’s better. Cloud ERP is flexible because it can be accessed from anywhere with any Internet-enabled device. That means you have the ability to make good business decisions no matter where you are from a laptop, tablet or mobile phone. You can also share data more easily across locations and departments, and because everyone in the company is interacting with centralized data through a common interface, the likelihood of interpreting the data differently between functions is lessened and opportunity for collaboration is increased. Finally, data that is in a Cloud ERP is easier to use with Busines Intelligence tools designed to work with data in the Cloud, providing you the flexibility to choose which reports and dashboards will work best for your company.

Leave the silos to the farmers. The Cloud improves data centralization and integration.

3. It’s easier to scale your growth with Cloud ERP

Scaling is a complicated science. If you grow and scale your business too slowly, you’ll fail to keep up with your customers and competition. But if you scale too quickly, you might over-spend and waste resources. A Cloud ERP system solves this dilemma because it offers a scalable platform, ideal for startups and fast-growing businesses alike. As new employees enter the company, you don’t have to purchase and install new hardware or additional software seats. Rather, you can scale your Cloud ERP package to accommodate an unlimited number of users, without the hassle of maintaining or replacing on-premises hardware and software.

4. Cloud ERP is fast and secure

Cloud ERP is fast because data centers are hosted and maintained by the best of the best in world-class hosting environments like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. Their sole purpose is to make your data accessible as easily, as fast, and as secure as they can possibly make it. These data centers ensure geographic diversity and back-up and store your data in multiple places to make sure nothing gets lost.
If you’re a growing company and in need of an ERP solution that can grow with you, Cloud ERP may be your best bet for its cost effectiveness, flexibility, scalability, security and speed.

Latvik Technologies can help you get up and running on cloud. We’d be happy to serve you soon,.

Why is ERP Software Important for University Management?

Today, colleges or universities  face a lot of challenges on a day-to-day basis just to function the everyday administration. Procedures like the declaration of results, data management, fees collection, timetable management, attendance management of both staff and students and other alike functions are done physically. Manual work takes a lot of time, energy, and resources.
Below mentioned are few reasons why every university or college must get an ERP management system:

1. E-communication
Students can have e-discussions with teachers about the preparation of the exams and get their difficulties resolved. For parents, they can be active and see their children’s academic progress but cannot just because they do not have the time. Parent-teacher communication is rationalized and this makes it simpler for parents to keep track of their attendance, examinations, and self-restraint reports.

Whether you are a teacher, parent or student, you can work on it from anywhere. Students can access their study material anywhere while teachers can look up lesson plans whilst mobile. No fixed installation or organization is essential, besides a smartphone and a dependable internet connection.

3. Keeping track of attendances
With a mixture of smart cards or biometric devices, attendance is marked mechanically and a notice is sent to all parents for the children who are absent. This guarantees that the parents are aware that their child is inattentive from college. Various modules across the system can be customized whereby principals and teachers can choose and configure the modules according to their preference and importance.

4. A complete graphical analysis
With this college management software you to do this and much more. Multidimensional examines of students ‘presentations, their development trends can be taken place and students who are dull and bad performers can be helped out and assisted for that reason. The examination can also be done transversely non-academic parameters like sponsorship, records and payroll.

5. A complete paperless campus
There is a huge use of apps and smartphones as compared to pen and paper which is a much cleverer and less unwieldy way of working. Info is now factually at the tips of all by means of the college management software. The software is a completely paperless and not at all tedious.

Benefits to Enterprise Resource Planning in a Hospital Environment

When evaluating whether or not a Full Enterprise Resource Planning is right for your hospital, consider these 6 Benefits discussed in a recent article by Healthcare Global:

1.   Patient information, data archives and supply chain information can be integrated and managed better
2.   Systems can be standardized with a common data dictionary to reduce duplication of effort and reduce errors
3.   Customer Relationship Management (CRM) results in cost savings, income generating opportunities and better patient service
4.   Significant efficiency is realized from Electronic Health Records (EHR) over manual charting. Information can be forwarded to other care givers more efficiently and storage is dramatically reduced.
5.   Care plan and treatment plans can be significantly improved with all systems working together in harmony.
6.   Considerably better financial controls because information is centralized, integrated and more accessible to everyone concerned.

The article points out that there are still some hurdles to be overcome before successful implementations become the norm in hospital environments.  They point to the following issues that must be addressed:
1.   Resistance to change by users who have been using manual systems throughout their entire career in health care
2.   Choosing the right software and integrator
3.   Proper planning and maintenance of current systems while the Enterprise Resource Planning system is being implemented.

They summarize their concerns with “A faulty implementation and a bad choice can have disastrous consequences, since when saving lives are concerned there is zero room for error.”

Everyone is talking about “the CLOUD. But what does it mean??

More and more, we are seeing technology moving to the cloud. It’s not just a fad—the shift from traditional software models to the Internet has steadily gained momentum over the last 10 years. Looking ahead, the next decade of cloud computing promises new ways to collaborate everywhere, through mobile devices.
So what is cloud computing? Essentially, cloud computing is a kind of outsourcing of computer programs. Using cloud computing, users are able to access software and applications from wherever they need, while it is being hosted by an outside party — in “the cloud.” This means that they do not have to worry about things such as storage and power, they can simply enjoy the end result.
Traditional business applications have always been very complicated and expensive. The amount and variety of hardware and software required to run them are daunting. You need a whole team of experts to install, configure, test, run, secure, and update them.
When you multiply this effort across dozens or hundreds of apps, itn’s easy to see why the biggest companies with the best IT departments arenn’t getting the apps they need. Small and mid-sized businesses don’t stand a chance.
With cloud computing, you eliminate those headaches that come with storing your own data, because you’re not managing hardware and software — that becomes the responsibility of an experienced vendor like salesforce.com. The shared infrastructure means it works like a utility: you only pay for what you need, upgrades are automatic, and scaling up or down is easy.
Cloud-based apps can be up and running in days or weeks, and they cost less. With a cloud app, you just open a browser, log in, customize the app, and start using it.
Businesses are running all kinds of apps in the cloud, like customer relationship management (CRM), HR, accounting, and much more. Some of the world’s largest companies moved their applications to the cloud with LATVIK TECHNOLOGIES after rigorously testing the security and reliability of our infrastructure.
As cloud computing grows in popularity, thousands of companies are simply re branding their
non-cloud products and services as “cloud computing.” Always dig deeper when evaluating cloud offerings and keep in mind that if you have to buy and manage hardware and software, what you’re looking at isn’t really cloud computing but a false cloud.

STUDENT PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT

How To Improve Individual Student Performance and Achieve 100% Pass Rate in School

Student progress monitoring is a vital process that help teachers use student performance data to constantly monitor the significance of their teaching or guidance and to implement more effective decisions. With constant evaluation of students you can quickly identify the student who falls below the line. Giving extra attention can help these students to improve individual performance and eventually boost overall school pass percentages.

Here are a few easy and quick steps. If you find them applicable, try and find out whether it works for your school.

1. Monitor academic progress

The first thing that all schools should have is a sort of monitoring system whereby the school provide short term (e.g. monthly or half a termly) learning objectives that most of the class will achieve and teachers can assess the classroom learning accordingly. You need to ensure that each child has their own targets for the half term which are specific and measurable. The measurable items could be the student’s language skills, numeracy skills etc. At the start of the next half term they check the targets and set new ones if they've been achieved.

To evaluate academic performance, marks per semester or term are also important. Schools should show the report to parents and keep them up to date on their child’s progress. So, parents are also able to acknowledge whether their kid needs more attention.

2. Checking attendance reports

Managing and tracking individual attendance plays an important part in students’ academic results. Maintaining a regular attendance record in schools is necessary for students’ success. If a student misses a class, then it will be hard for him/her to catch up next day and will be far behind compared to other students in the following classes. Alert parents regularly when their child skips a class. Poor attendance can also result in low pass percentage of schools. Education and exam boards also want schools to have an acceptable level of overall attendance for each standard. Shortening the leaves taking in an academic year students will be able to improve their studies to a great extend. In terms of attendance 80% would mean a student has missed approximately 40 days of education in a single academic year, which is around one day per week. So if the attendance is 80% from Standard 6 to Standard 10, then a student will have missed over one full year of education! There has been lots of research that proves there is a direct correlation between attendance and academic achievement of pupils.

3. Understanding student behaviour and improving classroom interaction

As a teacher you have to create a feeling that your students can ask any doubt during the session and start asking out questions in between teaching. Ask questions to them and let them ask questions while teaching. This will let them involve with the lessons and they will be more interested in the topic. Participation of students in debate and quiz engages student involvement to a greater extend. Debates help student’s to speak up in a group. They get the confidence to make a statement, ask questions, and argue for a different solution in a group and so on. This will help them in a lot of ways. It will let them think out of the box ideas, make them wonder why, gives better communication skills, encourage them to find answers and learn more things by themselves.

Classroom behaviour is another trickiest issue teachers face today. Disruptive behavior results in lost curriculum time and creates a classroom environment that is not favourable for learning. One key to tackle behavioral problems is to promote positive behavior before problems arise. Developing a positive mental behaviour helps students to focus on learning and perform better in exams.

4. Giving homework and assignments

Never procrastinate homework and assignments, this could be one of the reason your student lags behind other students in the class. One benefit that education experts cite is that homework helps build a child’s sense of responsibility. A little amount of homework help students build study habits. The effect of homework on academic achievement vary with student’s age. You also need to identify the types of homework assignments that are more effective and shift focus to giving more of those.

5. Summarizing and revising the lessons

When you ask your students a question, encourage them to elaborate the answers, comment on a statement and ask them to summarize topics that got covered in the session. This will help in increasing student thinking, memory capacity and will gradually improve their results. The next step is to help your students to make a revision timetable that actually works. Assist them on identifying the specific topics and subjects they need to revise each day. This way you can ensure that the pupils and making the most of their time they have available to study and prepare better for the exams.
